The Whistle Goes Woo Woooo!
I know this is an old story, but since it happened in my home town I felt that I owed it a space on blog. For those who haven’t heard of Bubb Rubb, Little Sis and whistle tips this video will be shocking and hilarious. The whistle tip phenomenon is another in a long line of stupid and incredible fads from the city of Oakland. The device is a simple piece of metal welded inside an exhaust pipe that makes your car produce a loud whistling sound similar to the noise made by a BART train.
The whistle tip problem occurred several years ago now, but the video never ceases to make me laugh. With such lines as “they just for decorations” and “that’s only in the mornin’. They supposed to be up and cooking breakfast and somebody” it is a little hard to take Bubb Rubb and Little Sis seriously, but they do bring up several good points. In one line he states, “They didn’t trip off them flows”, referring to flow master mufflers, and Rubb is absolutely right. The people didn’t seem to mind the incredibly loud Flowmaster mufflers that people put on cars for years, but his argument loses steam when he goes to demonstrate his whistle tip and takes off speeding on the wrong side of the road blowing a stop sign in the process. So now whistle tips are banned and don’t seem to be much of a problem any more (people switched over to suction tips, a whole different story) but this is still a classic piece of Oakland history.

It be that WOO WOO! The african brain is still on the savannah, still stuck on the yelling and flashy colors and being obnoxious. Everything is a mating ritual or a violent confontation to africans.
